Among your good resolutions for the year 2023, you are about to plan your stay on the French Riviera? Congratulations! You’ve made the right choice. But if by any chance, you are still hesitating to choose where to put your suitcase, without hesitation, we advise you Antibes!

With its exceptional geographical location between Nice and Cannes, attentive hoteliers (us) and its coastline lulled by snow-capped mountains in winter, Antibes is a destination to (re)discover urgently!

We have already given you our best advice to enjoy a spring stay in Antibes, here are 12 Antibes spots where you can stroll all year long!

Nature spots in Antibes

The billionaires’ bay

It owes its name to the privileged people who come to take advantage of its idyllic setting by boat, the fake silver cove nicknamed the bay of the billionaires, is one of the most heavenly creeks of the Antibes coastline. Only accessible before, it is now accessible from a path in the extension of the villa Eilenroc.

In addition to the enchantment of the place, it is here, that early in the morning, it is possible to observe the ballet of the dolphins.

The path of Tire-poil

Continue your walk on the Tire-poil path, one of the most beautiful seaside walks of the French Riviera. This fully developed path, which alternately spans or skims the exalted Mediterranean, is lined with luxury villas that are camouflaged in the dense vegetation.

5 kilometers from the Anse de l’Argent faux to one of our favorite beaches in Antibes, that of La Garoupe and its turquoise waters.

Port Abri de l’Olivette

Certainly the favorite spot of the Antibois, the port shelter of Olivette is the most photographed of the city! On the Cap d’Antibes, this picturesque harbor where the colorful pointus contrast with the yachts in the bay, is an authentic place and rigorously preserved by the Olivette association. Its translucent waters and its idyllic view of the coastline and the luxurious villas make it the ultimate beach to visit once in a lifetime (or even several times during your stay in Antibes).

The plateau of La Garoupe

It is impossible to visit Antibes without climbing to the Garoupe plateau. Don’t worry, unless you take the way of the cross that climbs up to the chapel, the access is far from being an ordeal since a paved road leads to this grail culminating at 75 meters of altitude. Here, a panoramic view of Antibes, the indented coastline and the mountain range awaits you. Get your smartphones ready? Shoot!

Historic Antibes

The old town

All year round, the old town of Antibes vibrates to the rhythm of its Provencal market, its commercial life, its good gourmet addresses, and its museums such as that of Picasso, near the ramparts. In summer, get lost in this maze of cobbled and shaded streets that promise to smell the delicate sweetness of life, dear to the people of Antibes and its unmistakable authenticity.

The ramparts

If you are a motorist, we have bad news for you: the ramparts, this historical jewel which balustrades the city, will be closed to traffic until Spring 2023.

Good news for walkers, soon this space overlooking the sea, will be completely redeveloped to stroll and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and the Cape Peninsula.

See you in April.

Fort Carré

One of the first bastioned forts of the 16th century, the Fort Carré preserves within its walls the fascinating history of this defensive building that was in use for more than 3 centuries. Its architecture conceived according to the mathematical art, its incredible panorama and its 4 hectares park which undulates at its feet, make of this monument registered with the historical heritage one of the emblematic places not to be missed during your stay.

The Eilenroc villa

One of the most prestigious villas in Cap d’Antibes, the Villa Eilenroc, now owned by the municipality, is the expression of the art of living from the 1920s to the 1950s when wealthy Americans frequented the fashionable “French Riviera”. In the heart of the immaculate building, a multitude of furniture and paintings remain from this illustrious era, collected by the Beaumonts, who bequeathed the property to the city of Antibes.

One can stroll through the gardens and the astonishing rose garden that backs onto the path that runs along the Mediterranean.

Authentic Antibes

The Provencal market

It is one of the most beautiful markets in the world, or at least on the French Riviera, the Provencal market on the Cours Masséna in Antibes exudes authenticity and the sweetness of life. Every day, under the courtyard, about fifty producers and craftsmen, unveil on the stalls, a festival of market garden flavors and typical products.

The little extra: sit down in one of the cafés and bars to observe this lively and invigorating show while sipping your coffee.

Unusual Antibes

              Jaume’s nomad

Like a lookout over the Mediterranean and the snow-covered Alps, Jaume’s nomad stands on the Saint-Jaume bastion. A monumental sculpture of about ten meters jagged with capital letters and which evokes with poetry the relationship between the word and the human body.

Since 2007, this giant of white steel invites visitors to enter this contemporary work of art that can be admired day and night, illuminating the maritime horizon in a different light.

The free commune of the Safranier

This is one of the unusual features of Antibes, the free commune of the Safranier, self-proclaimed by an association of inhabitants in the heart of the old Antibes, is now a tourist attraction as this small green corner in the middle of the paved streets is not lacking in charm.

On its square, the only restaurant distills all the soul of this unusual and timeless neighborhood where it is good to stroll, especially during the celebrations of the residents’ committee.

The next ones in 2023 will take place in April with unmissable events such as the old people’s tea party or the square ball competition !

The jabotte
