Chronicle #46: Ending the year in Antibes by the sea
The sun sets over the sea in Antibes, sailboats still in the warm light of year’s end.
There are moments in the year when you pause a little longer.
Not to review everything, not to analyze.
Just to see where you are.
In Antibes, this moment feels different.
Facing the sea, everything becomes simpler.
Clearer, almost obvious.
You sit, often without speaking.
Boats remain still, light slowly fades.
And time feels suspended.
There is no urgency here.
No countdown, no noise.
Just the end of the year arriving quietly.
On the Cap d’Antibes, the sea accompanies this moment.
It doesn’t really change, but you see it differently.
With more attention.
Thoughts move more slowly.
Some stay, others pass.
But none really disturb.
You don’t try to understand the year.
You simply let it settle.
Like light on water.
And without noticing, something softens.
Not spectacular, not final.
But enough.
Maybe ending the year here means just that.
Not turning a page.
Just gently closing the book.

About La Jabotte
La Jabotte is a small boutique hotel hidden just 60 meters from the sea.
A secret garden, a peaceful atmosphere, and a slower rhythm — a place where evenings feel softer, quieter, and a little outside of time.
