Chronicle #17 : Antibes at walking pace
Antibes on foot: discovering the town at a gentler pace
Antibes on foot.
It often comes as a pleasant surprise.
From La Jabotte, in Cap d’Antibes, that feeling begins almost as soon as you step through the gate.
Here, everything feels close.
The sea, the narrow streets, the terraces, the pine trees.
And despite what you might think, there is no need for hiking shoes.
In Antibes, many people walk in flip-flops.
It simply makes it easier to stop along the way
and dip your feet into the sea.
Walking in Antibes is a choice to slow down.
It means following the coastline with no real plan.
Turning into a street just because it looks inviting.
Changing direction without thinking twice.
On foot, the town reveals itself differently.
Details start to matter.
Scents, shadows, sun-faded façades.
You discover shortcuts.
Perfectly placed benches.
Viewpoints that never appear on a map.
Antibes on foot also means forgetting about time.
Walking without counting.
Stopping whenever you feel like it.
You don’t cross the town.
You experience it fully.
And then, without really noticing, you are already back.
A little lighter.
A little calmer.
Antibes on foot is not an effort.
It simply makes sense.
