The Jabotte Journeys #12: Old Antibes off-season, hidden streets and soft light
A narrow hidden street in old Antibes lined with plants, bathed in soft October light.
There is another way to discover the old town of Antibes.
Not in the middle of summer, not in the crowds.
But off-season, when everything slows down.
Morning is the perfect starting point.
Shutters open gently, streets are still quiet.
You get that rare feeling of arriving before everyone else.
Walk through the market while it’s still calm.
A few stalls, locals, simple gestures.
Then, without thinking, leave the busy area behind.
That’s where it begins.
Between the market and Safranier, there are hidden streets you don’t really find.
You get slightly lost… and that’s exactly the point.
Doors are half open, plants overflow, walls seem to tell stories.
You slow down without noticing.
You look more than you walk.
Then let yourself drift back toward the ramparts.
The sea appears between the stones, always at the right moment.
Like a breath.
The afternoon stretches gently.
You walk a little more, stop often.
Nothing is planned, everything feels right.
And then the light changes.
Streets warm up, steps slow down.
You realize the day shouldn’t end too quickly.
So you stay.
A drink, dinner in the old town, just a few steps away.
And that rare feeling of being exactly where you should be.

About La Jabotte
La Jabotte is a small family-run hotel in Antibes, hidden just 60 metres from the sea.
A secret garden, a peaceful atmosphere, and a slower rhythm — softer, quieter, and slightly outside of time.
