The Jabotte Journeys #6 : Antibes, One Slow Step at a Time
In Antibes, you can walk for hours without realising it.
It’s not a city you rush through.
It’s a city you let happen.
Most walks begin in the old town.
With no real plan.
You wander, you get lost, you always find your way back.
And somehow, you end up walking miles.
The Provençal market acts like a magnet.
You didn’t plan to buy anything.
But colours, scents, and voices slow you down.
You stop. You look. You linger.
Then come the ramparts.
Always the same spot, near the Picasso Museum.
The sea below.
And the same faithful seagull, standing there like a quiet sentinel.
You talk to him. He listens. Or so he pretends.
A little further on, the old washhouse.
Discreet. Easy to miss if you walk too fast.
This is where you need to stay.
To look closely.
Hidden in the stone are the works of artist Ho Lui.
They don’t reveal themselves easily.
They wait for patience.
That’s when the walk shifts.
Your legs keep moving.
But your gaze changes.
You stop trying to see everything.
You let things appear.
When you return, you’re tired.
But happy.
Ready for a nap.
Ready for a dip in the pool.
And rested enough to head out again for dinner.
Antibes isn’t big.
But it deserves to be explored slowly.
One quiet step at a time.

About La Jabotte
La Jabotte is a small boutique hotel hidden just 60 metres from the sea, in Antibes.
A secret garden, a peaceful atmosphere, and a slower rhythm — softer, quieter, and a little outside of time.
