Chronicle #21 : The Mood of the Sea
It’s never the same.
Same shore. Same place.
But this morning, the sea chose otherwise.
Sometimes it behaves.
Smooth. Almost polite.
You watch it for a long time, like listening to someone who doesn’t speak.
Other days, it stirs.
It crashes, it sighs, it insists.
You quickly understand it’s not the moment to ask for anything.
The sea isn’t decorative.
It doesn’t pretend.
It shows exactly how it feels.
Strangely, it's calming.
Because here, no one expects it to behave.
You adapt. You slow down. Or you let go.
Guests often ask what it will be like today.
Calm? Rough?
We rarely answer. We suggest going to see.
(The sea is sixty metres away. We manage.)
In front of it, moods align.
Breathing slows.
Words fade.
Acceptance settles in.
The sea explains nothing.
It doesn’t try to convince.
It’s in a good mood or a bad one.
And somehow, so are we.

About La Jabotte
La Jabotte is a small boutique hotel hidden just 60 meters from the sea.
A secret garden, a peaceful atmosphere, and a slower rhythm — a place where evenings feel softer, quieter, and a little outside of time.
