The Jabotte journeys #1: Antibes in the Rain, yes, it happens
Antibes in the Rain: When the Riviera Changes Light
In Antibes, the sun usually rules with absolute authority.
But every now and then, it decides to sleep in.
A scent of rain drifts in from the sea, the cobblestones turn to silver, and the whole town suddenly looks like a watercolor — softer, quieter, beautifully slowed down.
When it rains here, everything shifts.
The alleys glow, the terraces empty gently, and cafés fill with the comforting fog of steamed milk and warm pastries.
The rain doesn’t spoil Antibes — it reveals parts of it you’d never notice on a bright day.
In the mood for culture?
Follow the ramparts to the Picasso Museum, where bold colors meet a soft grey sea.
Or slip into the Peynet Museum, where the lovers under umbrellas feel perfectly on theme.
And if history calls you, the path to Fort Carré — under a moody Mediterranean sky — feels like stepping into an old movie.
In the mood for comfort?
The covered market stays lively, bursting with citrus, herbs and the chatter of locals.
Tea rooms offer shelter and sweet warmth, while a few seaside cafés give you front-row seats to watch the horizon melt into mist.
In the mood to unwind?
At La Jabotte, the heated pool is always open, and rain on the water creates the most calming soundtrack.
Add a massage, a soft blanket, and the smell of a freshly watered garden… and you’ll understand why rainy days are secretly some of the best.
The Jabotte edition
Tya patrols the puddles with boundless enthusiasm.
The cat has, as always, chosen the best cushion with the best view — impeccable taste and timing.
And we watch the garden slow down under the rain, mugs in hand, thinking that clouds look surprisingly pretty from here.
Rain in Antibes is an invitation.
To slow down, to wander differently, to watch the sea change color, to enjoy the town in its gentlest version.
And of course — the sun always comes back faster here than anywhere else.
