Chronicle #4 : Slow travel on the French Riviera: why staying in Antibes is a good idea

Ah, holidays on the French Riviera…

Three days, fifteen villages, eight markets, twelve museums, and a sore thumb from photographing every single palm tree.
Let’s be honest: just thinking about it is exhausting.

At La Jabotte,

we believe this race makes no sense. And our dog — plus the cat who supervises everything — fully agree.
Why rush from Saint-Tropez to Menton when here in Antibes, the whole world seems to have understood that time can… slow down?

Here, even the hands of the clock hesitate before moving.

We have our own holiday theory: slow travel.

It’s scientific (well, almost): the longer you stay in one place, the more you truly discover.
Sunrise on the beach, the scent of the market, that quiet alley you would have missed, the little fountain hidden behind the church, the soft conversations drifting from a café terrace…

And honestly: who wants to spend their days hunting for parking spaces in every town on the Riviera?
The only acceptable traffic jam here is the one created by sparrows fighting over a piece of brioche.

So this year, drop your bags in Antibes.

Let the mistral do whatever it wants with your hair.
Tell your watch it deserves a holiday too.
And remember: on the Côte d’Azur, the most beautiful discoveries are never made in a rush.

Here, true luxury is having time.
